Veteran actors won big on Sunday night’s Star Awards Show 2, which was held at the Marina Bay Sands Grand Theater.
Most notable of them was Lin Meijiao, 45, who snagged her first acting prize after more than 20 years in the business: She took home Best Supporting Actress for playing a con artist in Game Plan.
When she received her award on stage, she took a swipe at her ex-husband, actor Huang Yiliang, who once said she would have to wait until her neck was as long as a giraffe’s before she would win an award. “When the time is right for you, the awards will come. You don’t have to crave for them nor do you have to wait till your neck is too long,” she said to much laughter.
She also mentioned how the late Huang Wenyong said he never dropped out of the “troop” despite never having won an acting honour at the Star Awards. She said that veterans like Huang and her had always soldiered on.
